A Sperryville youth was fatak ly injured in a highway crash about 8:30 Tuesday morning on Route 211, three and a half miles east of Washington, Va. Four other teenage boys of the Sperryville area were injured in the single vehicle wreck. Wade -Douglas- .Gilkeyr XI, was apparently killed instantly when the 66 Chevrolet station wagon he was driving went out of control, ran off the right of the road, down a bank and struck a tree. He was the son of Mrs. Elmer Atkins, Sperryville. (Obituary inside) Injured in the crash were Kenneth Cave, Allen Jack Jenkins, Edward Wayne Corbin and Kenneth Gbuchenour, all students at the local high school, and passengers in the vehicle. They were all taken to Winchester Memorial Hospital by the Flint Hill and Rappahannock Rescue Squads in fair to critical condition, according to Trooper W. A. Buntin who investigated. Amissville Rescue Squad also responded to the crash and after the cornoner’s investigation, took Gilkey to Amissville where his body was turned over to Clore Funeral Home.
