their 27th annual sale held Tuesday, October 18th.

While prices were a shade stronger than a year ago, calves
were 25 pounds lighter as a result of the severest drought in
the history of the sale resulting in the steers bringing $2.48 less
per head while the per head price of heifers was $1.14 higher than a year ago.
Top price of the sale was a show steer weighing 445 pounds
which was bid in by Mr. Mullinex of Maryland at 37V&C and consigned
by River Bend Farm of Front Royal. The top price per
head was a Fan:y steer calf weighing 590 lbs. consigned by A.
W Dearing of Huntly, brought $219.17 and bought by a Mr. Robinson of Alexandria.
