Committee Named
Farmers recently named to serve as the Agricultural Stab ilization and Conservation (ASC) County Committee are: H. S. Barksdale, Chairman; D. D. Miller, Vice Chairman; and R. E. Wood, Regular Mem ber. Mr. Barksdale and Mr. Miller were elected to the committee last year for three and two years, respectively; Mr. Wood was elected this year for a 3-year term on the committee. Alternates elected were: First Alternate - James F. Massie, Jackson Community; and Second Alternate - Dabney M. Eastham, Wakefield Community. The 1966 election was held at a county convention Oct. 21, 1966 at the County ASCS Office. Electors were farmers chosen as convention delegates at recent ASC community committee elec t i o n s throughout the county. Chairman Barksdale points out that the ASC county and community far me r-commit tees are in charge of local administration of such national farm programs as the Agri cultural Conservation Program, Cropland Adjustment Program, the feed grain program, the voluntary wheat pro gram, acreage allotments and marketing quotas, the National Wood Program, commodity price-support loans,and storage facility loans. The ASCS county office at Washington is headquarters for the county committee, and serves as the farmers* local' contact for business connected with participation in the programs administered by the Committee.
