Sonny Brown Wins
Golf Tournament
The Rappahannock County Handicap Golf Tournament was held at Shenvalle Golf Course, New Market, during the month of October with nine golfers vieing for the championship. First place win ner was Netus (Sonny) Brown of Sperryville with a score of 275 from four rounds, 69, 36, 72 and 68. His handicap was 20. F. S. Boze placed second with 283 and in third place was Roy L. Reeve with 285. James W. Coates had the low round. All are from Sperryville.
Others participating in the tournament were Carson B. Johnson, Roy Reeve, Jr., Sperryville and Dave Layman and Al Ballard, Washington and M. E. Huffman of Luray. This was the first tournament held, though the group has played for several years, and they anticipate making it an annual event. Other interested golfers are Invited to participate. Mr. Brown was presented a trophy and a cash prize and Mr. Boze also received a cash prize. Mr. Coates was given a dozen golf balls for low round.
