Another Invitation
All boys between the ages of 8 and 10 1/2, who are interested in Cub Scouts, may find out how to get a den organized in their neighborhood following the Magic show on October 28, 1966 at the Washington Elementary School. According to surveys, there are enough boys intheAmissville, Sperryville and Chester Gap areas and other parts of the county to join dens already existing in Flint Hill and Wash ington.

For Harry F. Byrd
A simple Episcopal funeral service was held Sunday in Winchester for former United States Senator Harry Flood Byrd who died Thursday, Oct. 20, 1966 at his home, Rosemont, in Berryville. Following the service at Christ Episcopal Church, interment was in^uearby _Mt. Hehr,on Cemetery.
Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey and Secretary of the Treasury Henry H. Fowlei; President Johnson’s representative, led the large delegation of Washington officialdom who joined Virginia leaders and hundreds of friends and colleagues in final tribute to Senator Byrd, a towering figure in the political affairs of Virginia and the nation for forty years. An American flag, one that had flown over the nation's capitol where Byrd served in the Senate for 32 years, covered the mahogany casket. Among the floral tributes was a rustic wreath of autumn foliage gathered by the National Park Service from Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park, the former Senator used to climb every year on his birthday. He was a staunch advocate of the Park Service and the holder of an honorary park ranger badge. He was predeceased by his wife two years ago and is survived by three sons. Senator Harry F. Byrd, Jr., Beverley Byrd and Richard E. Byrd; and 8 grandchildren.
