Children who will enter the first grade at Rappahannock County Elementary School next year will be registered at the school on Tuesday, February 25 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., it was announced today by O. A. Norton, Superintendent of School. Every child in the county who will be 6 years of age on or before October 1, 196& is to be registered by his parent or guardian at this time.
In order that adequate educational planning may be accomplished, it is very important that all entering first graders be registered on this day. Parents are reminded they must present an official copy of the child’s birth certificate at the time of the child’s registration. Parents who do not have official birth certificates should bring $1.00 to cover cost of securing this record.
Mrs. Frances Thornton, Public Health Nurse, will be present to explain to each parent the required procedure for health examination and immunization of these pre-school children.
The summer school program this year will be held for pre-school children only, and these children will register for the summer program on the same date as the pre-school registration, February 25, at the same hours. The summer school t program will be held at Kvppahannock County j Elementary School from July 7 until July 25 and the hours will be from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Transportation will be provided, and the bus routes will be the same, or almost the same, as last year. All children entering the first-grade in the fall are urged to attend the summer program.
