Cancer Speaker
Harry W. Caughron, Director of Athletics at Woodberry Forest; School and a member of the Committee of Athletes Against Cancer in Virginia, will be the luncheon speaker at a meeting of American Cancer Society volunteers Thursday, February 27, in Front Royal.
The meeting at the Virginia! Gentlemen Restaurant will be1 held from 10 a m. to 2:30 pm., for volunteers from Culpeper, Clarke, Fauquier, Madison, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren counties and the city of! Winchester.
Speaking on the meeting theme, “The Winners,” Coach Caughron will stress the American Cancer Society’s 1969 Crusade slogan “Help Yourself with a Checkup and Others with a Check.”
As Athletic Director and Head i football coach at Woodberry Forest, Coach Caughron has been , a winner himself, compiling a record of 69 wins and 7 losses, since 1960. His teams have won the Virginia Prep League! Championship seven years and I went undefeated and untied in 1964, 1966, and 1967.
Coach Caughron joins a numberj of other outstanding coaches and! athletes from Virginia as a' member of the Society's Committee ^of Athletes Against Cancer. They will be assisting 1969 State Crusade Chairman,] Jerry Claiborne, Virginia Tech! head football coach, in urging support of the 1969 educational and fund-raising Crusade and emphasizing the importance of annual physical checkups in appearances throughout the state.
