Red Cross month which starts March 1st. is fast approaching.
Volunteer workers for the Fund Campaign came to the Chapter Board meeting Wednesday, February 12th. Both
Fauquier and Rappahannock [ were well represented. At thej jsame time kits used for the door; ■ to door canvass were given out.
John F. Bowman, Chairman for , the Fund Campaign, gave a jrun-down of the services of the Red Cross, their work and the financial needs to carry them on. The quota for 1969 is $20,024.00.
Mr. Bowman also stressed the mission of the Red Cross being an instrument chosen by the Congress to help carry out obligations assumed by the United States. The Congressional ■ Charter imposes on the American i Red Cross the duties to act as the medium of voluntary relief and communication between the American people and their armed i forces and to carry on a system of ^national and international relief ,[to prevent and mitigate suffering caused by disasters. ,j A lively discussion followed about the services and the quotawhat the services did and how the budget was made up.
