New Variety
Alfalfa Named
Dr. Coyt Wilson, Director of the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station and Associate Dean of the V.P.I. Research Division, has announced the release of a new alfalfa variety named Team. Virginia is cooperating with the North Carolina Agricultural Experiment Station, the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station and the Crops Research Division, Agricultural Research Service of the United States Department of Agriculture in the release of this new alfalfa variety. Team was developed in cooperation with the Entomology Research Division, Agricultural Research Service of the U. S. Department of Agriculture. This new variety is vigorously growing with some resistance to the alfalfa weevil and the pea aphid.
Team has greater resistance to the alfalfa weevil than varieties available in the past. This resistance is not generally great enough to completely eliminate the need for weevil control
