Th6 tJrand Feature Parade of the 44th Annual Apple Blossom Festival appears to be shaping up as one of the finest ever to be assembled in the city of Winchester, on May 8.
E. Michael Luby, Director of the Parade, promises that this year’s parade will have something of interest for everyone. The parade will feature Queen Shenandoah XLIV, Miss Juliana Shepard, daughter of Astronaut Alan Shepard; Miss America, Miss Phyllis George; Miss Virginia, Miss Jeanie Smith; and the festival’s own Miss Shenandoah Apple Blossom, Miss Ruth Ann LeMasters. This year’s Grand Marshal, Sheriff Joe Higgins of the Dodge car commercials has already created much interest. Two well-known sports figures, Sports Marshal, Earl Morrall, quarterback for the Baltimore Colts; and Sports Celebrity, Calvin Hill, back for the Dallas cowboys will ride in the parade and attend the Sports Breakfast.
