Willis, the Beaty and Cloud vehicles were stopped in a line of northbound traffic when the Rector car approached from the rear. Bonnie Rector was unable to stop and veered across the left lane stopping partially on the left shoulder. The fourth vehicle, a dump truck heading south operated by Mallory, was meeting the line of Traffic and in order to avert a head-on collision with the Rector car, he sideswiped the Beaty and Cloud cars.
Drivers and occupants escaped injury and only the Beaty and Cloud vehicles were damaged. Estimates were set at $300 and $50, respectively. Mrs. Rector was charged with following too closely.
