THE EIGHTH annual re-enactment of the 1864 Battle of New Market, remembered for the gallant charge of previously untested VMI cadets, will take place Sunday, May 11, at 2 p.m., at New Market.
An added weekend event this year will be a markmanship shoot Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. Several eight-man teams from among the reenacters will compete using Civil War style rifles and firing black powder.
