THE SUPERVISORS didn’t adjourn, but continued their meeting last Thursday until May 15, at 7:30, so that they can take action at that time to advertise the budget.
Before the Supervisors turned their attention to paying bills and leaving for lunch, Commonwealth’s Attorney George Davis announced that he is withdrawing his request for a salary increase.
“We’re pleased to accept it,” H.B. Wood said.
“I hadn’t asked for much anyway,” Davis added. “That’s right,” Pete Luke agreed. “George had only asked for 3 1/2 per cent, instead of the five per cent all state employes are getting. And the sheriff didn’t ask for anything.”
Also at their May meeting, the Supervisors appointed Walter Masterson to a full term on the Planning Commission. — Pekay Pettus
