These stones actually happened in recent times. They would have made fine gossip copy in the daily press by today’s standards. We did not publish.

Where we come down on all this as matter of policy is simple enough. Specifically, public figures living here should be treated exactly the same as private persons living here. That is to say that we recognize their equal right of individual privacy and will not publish what they do or-say at home or private gatherings.

If they, like any more ordinary person, choose to make a public appearance or violate the law, it is subject to news copy.

This sort of policy may not sell newspapers but it is the right way to publish and help maintain a certain quality of life and individual privacy.
