The Five County Rural Letter Carriers Association held its annual meeting last weekend at the Amissville fire hall, with a large attendance of carriers, substitutes and auxiliary.
C. F. Yates Jr. of Culpeper was elected president for the next term. Mr. Yates is active in rural carrier affairs. He is president of the Salem Ruritan Club, a deacon in New Salem Baptist Church and farms about 1100 acres at Griffinsburg.
John Douglas of Catlett is the new vice-president and Charles Compton of Amissville will handle the duties of secretary-treasurer for the 22nd consecutive year.
Delegates to the state convention in Petersburg in July are the new officers and Allen Ellet, Rixeyville, Edward Brown, Sperryville, Jerry Schweikert, Orange, Allison Gibbs, The Plains, and Tom Willoughby, Rapidan.
All carriers expressed interest in improving the quality of service on their routes. Dinner was served and fellowship enjoyed after the business session.
