14th Amendment, but she lost in the U. S. Circuit Court on June 18, 1873. The decision of the Circuit Court effectively barred women in most states from the use of the ballot box to encourage reform in employment or any other field for more than 40 years. ERA will do more than the 14th Amendment because it will add the right of equality for the sexes before the courts.
It does not hold that men and women are the same; therefore, it does not promote unisexism. It will not upset the principle of privacy in certain facilities, a principle which is implied by the Supreme Court. Nor will it intrude on private relationships between husband and wife, or parent and child.
