Dr. Edgar K. Browning, son of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Browning of Flint Hill, received his promotion to the rank of Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia, effective September 1977.

Dr. Browning was valedictorian of his class at Rappahannock High School in 1961. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1965, with Highest Distinction, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. From 1965 to 1969 he attended Princeton University, receiving Woodrow Wilson and National Science Foundation Fellowships. He was awarded his Ph. D. from Princeton University in 1971.

Pancake

Supper

A Pancake Supper featuring, in addition to pancakes and syrup, sausage, fried apples, coffee or tea, will be held Saturday, June 25, in the fire house at Amissville. Serving begins at 5 p.m. and continues to 8 p.m. The supper is sponsored by the Amissville Ladies Auxiliary.

Proceeds will go toward pouring the concrete floor in the new carnival grounds kitchen. The price is $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children. The ladies urge everyone to come purchase a “foot of concrete.”
