To the editor: I want to thank all who participated in the Democratic Primary. The candidates have been chosen by the democratic process—the voice of the people. I am sure that the spectrum is broad enough to include all Democrats in the State. Therefore, I urge all of us to unite to insure that a straight Democratic ticket will be elected in the fall.

At the beginning of the contest after serious discussion with the County Committee, I made it very clear to all the candidates and their supporters that I would remain uncommitted until after the people had spoken, at which time we would consolidate our differences of opinion and give our full support to a united Democratic campaign in the Fall.

In the words of former Governor John Battle "the strength of the Virginia Democratic Party is that it is broad enough to cover all political opinions under one umbrella."
