County Has Plan
Newbill Miller stated that he agreed with Rappahannock’s Commonwealth Attorney that the county currently has the information and material required for a comprehensive plan and all that’s necessary is to organize it and put a label on it.
Marshall disagreed and volunteered to send each of the Planners a copy of the Virginia Code section that applies to comprehensive plans.
Masterson commented that he thought the Planning Commission had shown good judgment in not rushing into adoption of the required plan. “As we learn more, we’ll make a better comprehensive plan,’’ he said.
“I’m not going to discuss this further until I get a copy of the Code,” said Miller and the rest of the Planners agreed to follow his lead.
Planner Alan Stokes asked Marshall if he would also study the county ordinances in reference to requirements for a comprehensive plan.
“Maybe you can convince us it’s worthwhile,” Barksdale told Jim Marshall, in reference to adoption of acomprehensive plan. “I’m not sure.”
“I’m convinced it’s worthwhile if we’re smart enough to not make mistakes,” added Miller.
