unanimously to accept the League’s offer to raise money to clear and grade part of school property for a track.
A second unanimous vote formally approved use of school grounds from June 6 through July 31 for baseball. Irvin Kenyon, president of the Rappahannock Athletic Association, reported that 165 girls and boys, from ages nine through 17, were registered in the program.
The School Board is interested in having school property used by the community, said Norton. “Our main concern is that the property be protected and the programs run smoothly with proper supervision.” To avoid outside interference, Norton said that the Athletic Organization would have the authority to enforce the no trespassing regulations on the property.
“We can put the field to good use,” Kenyon commented. He said that since the program began three weeks ago, he’d had no reports of unauthorized individuals trying to horn in on activities.
