He said that all the Electoral Trustees had felt considerable pressure on the issue and had wanted to keep politics out of the decision.
Johnson outlined the qualifications of School Board members and noted that the Electoral Board did not have any jurisdiction over members once they were appointed.
Speaking from the floor for a Citizens-Patron group, the Rev. Ronald Wiley said his group felt that better representation, especially for low income people in the county, would be more complete with a six-member School Board and stated that he wanted to recommend an appointee when the time came to accept nominations.
