John Browning enumerated reasons for reducing Board membership to five and later made a motion to that effect. The motion was seconded by Mufh, who added reservations about his vote. With Johnson and Browning casting affirmative votes for a five-member Board and Muth against, the lower number was established.
Since there was no one visibly promoting a fivemember School Board, those present at the meeting asked who was in favor of the reduced membership. The Electoral Trustees refused to comment or release names.
After the meeting, Chairman Johnson encountered Mrs. Newbill Miller in the auditorium and said “I feel just like someone who has had the rug pulled from under him!”
