Miss Sharon Lynn Shackelton, daughter of Colonel and Mrs. Phillip L. Shackelton of Sperryville, and Terry Jay Looney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey S. Looney, Jr., of Roanoke, Va., were married Saturday, June 18, 1977 at the Culpeper United Methodist Church. The Reverend Robert E. Hawkins, performed the double-ring ceremony.
Following the ceremony, a wedding reception was held at the Holiday Inn.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white formal gown of Duchess satin, designed by Priscilla of Boston. Alencon and Venice lace adorned the empire bodice featuring a scoop neckline and long traditional sleeves of English net and lace. The panel skirt swept into a chapel train with a motif of lace on both sides. Her circular waist length veil was scattered with lace and attached to a Juliet cap of lace and pearls. The bride’s bouquet was a demure cascade of white Georgeen orchids and stephanotis and accented with acuba foliage and white velvet ribbon.
The maid of honor was Emily Clevenger of Richlands. She wore a long jade green gown accented with chiffon print cape and matching picture hat, and carried a colonial nosegay of
