The Rappahannock School Electoral Trustees have changed the number of members on the Rappahannock School Board from six to five. For the past six years, each of the five districts in the county was represented on the Board and a sixth member was appointed "at large”. A decision on School Board membership became necessary when E. N. Montague of Sperryville, the "at large” representative, announced that he would not be considered for reappointment when his term expired.
The Electoral Board met at the Rappahannock Elementary School on Friday before a large delegation of county school patrons. Board members John S. Browning of Flint Hill, Goerge E. Muth, Woodville and chairman C. E. Johnson, Jr., Sperryville, heard everyone wishing to speak on the matter.
Chairman Johnson opened the meeting by stating that the Electoral Board members had received numerous calls and letters, both pro and con, for retaining six members.
