the investigation he was advised by the investigators that Davis had listed at least four other types of violations which had occurred, and wanted them investigated also.
“In order to be fair to me and to my department and to the taxpayers of Rappahannock County, Davis should release the results of the investigation in its entirety, not his interpretation,” said Buntin.
“Mr. Davis’ interpretation of what mileage is improper, as he has related to me several times, is the policing of towns in Rappahannock County, the business places, the schools and the dumps," Buntin continued.
“He has further said that no mileage is proper for policing except when a call has been received by the Sheriffs Department that an offense has been committed or is about to be committed.”
“If this is the type of policing that the citizens of the county want, they should contact their supervisors and make their feelings known so ffieir board members might be governed by the wishes of their constituents,” the sheriff said.
The final report of the State Police investigation and their findings has been sent to the Attorney General’s office in Richmond for evaluation and determination as to what is proper and improper mileage claimed by the Sheriffs Department.
"I’ll be more than happy to have the results of the Attorney General’s findings made available to the public regardless of what the findings are,” said Buntin.
