Mr. and Mrs. Ray Thomas Compton of Castleton an* nounce the birth of a son, Jeffrey Ray, on Wednesday, June 15, 1977, at Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal. Mrs. Compton is the former Darlene Whorton.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Whorton of Castleton and Mr. and Mrs. John M. Compton, also of Castleton, are the grandparents of the infant. Mr. Robert Whorton, Sr. of Castleton and Mr. and Mrs. John Edward Jenkins of Washington are the greatgrandparents.

The Rappahannock Chorus will present the Testament of Freedom with words by Thomas Jefferson and music by Randall Thompson on the Fourth of July at 2 p.m. at the Washington Baptist Church on Gay Street.
Prior to the singing, folk and country dances will be presented by a group of Rappahannockians. The Fourth promises to be more fun than ever this year with street sales, good food, pony and carriage rides and works.
