Speech Therapy Program
Rappahannock school children will share the services of a fulltime speech therapist with the regional Piedmont Vocational School next year. According to Superintendent Norton, the therapist will alternate between spending three days in the county one week and two days the next.
Assistant Superintendent Raymond Hogan said that federal “flow through’’ funds were available to pay for special education programs not offered by the county in the past. These funds can be used for speech therapy since that program had been provided for Rappahannock students through Piedmont School previously, instead of directly by the county, he explained.
Superintendent Norton added that speech therapy services are no longer available from Piedmont since the other area schools involved in the cooperative effort now have their own therapists. A maximum of 35
