Both Norton and Assistant Superintendent Raymond E. Hogan said they felt adequate information of this type was brought out during considerations for employment.
Board member Walter Masterson responded that he thought the Board had decided at the April meeting to require that Norton provide members with copies of resumes and application forms for all prospective employees a week in advance of decisions on hiring.
If this procedure is followed, inteijected Mrs. Massie, Board members would have the opportunity to contact persons that they might know from the applicant’s community for additional background information not included in the Application.
Norton explained that the time element involved fn hiring new people would make it difficult for him to provide the Board members with resume and application copies. “I offered one position to three people and they all turned it down. I don’t know how I would do it if I had to wait a week between each...Are you employing a Superintendent to hire people or not?” he asked.
