Senate Bill 272 was introduced on January 27 and was reported out of the Senate Committtjifc on Finance in a. IS to 0 vote. There were no negative votes cast by the full Senate in considering the measure and it was forwarded to the House Committee on Counties, Cities and Towns. The supporting vote there was 18 to 0.
The House Committee on Appropriations next considered the legislation, approving it 15 to 0. The final unanimous vote came on the House floor where the bill won passage, % to 0.
Jones said he expected Governor John Dalton to sign the bill into law. ‘‘Sheriffs Departments will still have to fill out forms,” said Jones, “but now they can list patrolling as an allowable expense.”
