The Committee judged that a convention would save the candidates and the party money, that it would result in less dissention within the party, and that the candidate selection process would preclude Republicans participating in it.
More than seven persons ' have announced their candidacies for selection at the convention. Several of these have been to Rappahannock County to seek support from local Democrats.
Later in the day (April 15) the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee will have a fund-raising cocktailbuffet party at the Chester Gap fire house, beginning at 6:00 p.m. All interested persons will be welcome. Guests will be asked to make a donation of $5.00 per
person. Similar successful parties were held last October and April. Members of the Democratic Committee and friends of the Party will provide refreshments.
