As a follow up, the Planners approved a special meeting date for their public hearing on the rezoning, setting the public hearing for the afternoon before the Supervisor meeting on April 6. The Rappahannock Zoning Ordinance states that the Planners SHALL submit a recommendation on all proposed rezonings to the governing body. As one of the Planners noted, “how can the Commission make any kind of recommendation to the Supervisors in less than 24 hours? ”
To call this matter a “rush job” is an understatement. The county Planners have loaded the Davis rezoning application onto an “express train” and it has all the earmarks of a railroad job. Somebody ought to pull the emergency brake before Rappahannock citizens become firmly convinced that their government is one of men, not laws.
