numbered two churches, three civic groups, a couple of businesses and 113 individuals. Volunteer work, principally by Mr. Aldrich, has almost cleared the land.
It was a bit late last year before all the money was raised. Most of the contractors were busy, and it was hard to get interest in the project at a reasonable money figure. Then came a terrible winter when the ground was either frozen or covered with snow or ice. The project has not been dropped, and it is hoped that it will be finished this summer.
The folks who are backing this project are disappointed that no provisions for track equipment or maintenance were made in the new budget this spring. They still hope that something can be inserted, possibly by the Board of Supervisors.
