reading. A child who never sees his parents reading cannot be expected to become a good reader.
When a child enters school he is taught reading skills, but he does not become a skilled reader unless he practices the skills learned.
Skills can be learned for many things, but like reading, unless used and used and used, will not be developed.
I urge parents to ask themselves, "What have 1 done to help my child become a better reader?” Schools cannot accomplish the task alone.
