At a special meeting held Thursday, December 14, the Rappahannock Planning Commission thrashed out revisions to zoning ordinance amendments adopted in September and agreed to propose a joint public hearing on the changes to the Board of Supervisors.
The amendments that allow outdoor commercial recreation as a matter of right in conservation districts have sparked a suit from the Rappahannock Chapter of the lzaak Walton League and opposition from the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection. Critics have charged that the recent changes in the county's zoning ordinance will open up slopes over 14 per cent to commercial exploitation.
