Vocational Plan With little comment and no debate, the school board unanimously approved the six-year vocational education plan. According to Bloomer, the administration will rotate the purchase of vocational training equipment in line with the school board’s suggestion, buying a few pieces each year so as to maintain that budget item at approximately the same amount per year.
Bloomer noted that the only major difference in the new vocational plan and the plan approved last year was the amount allotted for instructional supplies. This year's higher allocation, he said, is based on the exact figures of what was actually spent. He added that some of the current materials had been purchased with student fees, provoking questions from parents as to whether this practice should be followed.
“Some teachers have been using money out of their own pockets (for class materials),” interjected Aline Johnson, a member of the committee that prepared the vocational education plan.
