Welfare Budget
Keporting that she had attended a budget workshop the previous week. Mrs. Buntin said that the state, "as usual, has tlung a few mickies at us."
This year, she said, both the budget forms and the Title 20 plan are different. In addition, the state has revised the basic salary scale for welfare department personnel.
"The State Welfare Department did a study on pay scales and they discovered what everybody knew—that the lower grades were way below what people were paid for the same jobs in private industry." Mrs. Buntin said. The mandatory adjustments for steps in the state approved salary scale will amount to increases from 8 ~ to 13 percent with the larger increases occuring at the bottom of the scale.
