If details can be worked out, the 1979 class from Rappahannock County High School will travel to New York City for the senior class trip. Although the School Board members voted tentative approval at their December 12 meeting to the request presented by Karen Murray, they suggested that the seniors come up with a second choice alternative for the trip in case final approval doesn’t come through.
According to Karen, total cost for the 60 seniors who have said they’ll go will be $3,753, not including meals. The group plans to leave Rappahannock at 9 a.m. on a Friday, arriving in New York at 5 p.m. for a visit to Radio City Music Hall. On Saturday, the seniors will go on a six-hour bus tour of the city, stopping at the United Nations, Statue of Liberty and other points of interest. On Sunday, they will leave at 9 a.m. to return to the county by 5 p.m.
Karen reported that motel accomodations at a group rate with four to a room will run $12.30. Tour cost will be $47.25 per person, she added. Karen told the Board that this year’s seniors had $473.77 left from junior year projects and had earned $412.23 to date with additional revenue expected from the senior play, slave day. junior-senior basketball game, car wash and bake sale and tree planting for reforestation projects.
