On December 12, the Rappahannock School Board adopted its six year special education plan and approved application for $12,150 in federal money to fund next year’s program. The anticipated special education budget also calls for $1,000 in local and state revenues for supplies and other capital outlay. The projected budget is an increase of $3,150 over the amount included in the current budget.
In explaining the special education plan, assistant superintendent Rob McDaniel noted that the educational diagnostician shared part-time with Fauquier schools this year would not be funded with federal money for the coming school year. This expenditure did not appear in Rappahannock’s 1978-79 budget since salary for the position—approximately $5,200—was funneled from Washington to Fauquier under the Title 6B federal
