fire. Knowing, personally, the energy and genuine enthusiasm that went into building and running this fire house, my heart goes out to every member who took part in all the work.
The people who will tour the remains this Sunday will surely feel a great sense of personal loss, as I did.
The men and women who now work in this fire department, rescue squad and ladies auxiliary are volunteering their time and contributing their knowledge and training for every man. woman and child whose lives might be threatened by fire, sickness and accidents. And they don’t stop after just a time or two a year. Every day. year in and year out. no matter what the weather they respond to the call of others as though their own lives depended on it.
True, there aren't many available to respond ..in Amissville during working hours. Due to the obligations they have to their families and jobs, they have no choice. This is why more people who are in Amissville during the day (working or not) should consider helping if there is any way possible.
I wonder if there is anyone who actually believes they will never need help from the fire department and rescue squad. It's so easy to turn our backs and say. “They don’t need me; let someone else do it this time.”
Suppose the alarm sounded calling for aid for any one of us and every member of a fire department or rescue squad said, “Oh. they won't need me today, let someone else do it this time." what could we do?
The up-to-date equipment and training that is here in the local fire department helps to keep our fire insurance costs down. So. we benefit from this organization even before we actually need personal emergency aid.
This is one of the many blessings we take for granted everyday. People caring for people is certainly a blessing. We are all so busy we don't think ofien enough to stop and show some sort of gratitude.
Please let's stop criticizing and tearing down the good works in our community. The first step could be to come out this Sunday and see for yourself.
