In suggesting Mrs. Ouaintance, Luke noted that she regularly attends school board meetings and is knowledgeable and up-todate on matters pertaining to education.
“Her appointment would satisfy a lot of people,’’ agreed Wakefield supervisor Hubert Gilkey.
Mrs. Quaintance has agreed to accept the position, the supervisor chairman reported.
Rt. 211 Widening
According to a letter from highway department district engineer Don Hope read at Monday's meeting, plans have been approved for fburlaning Route 211 from Washington to Sperryville. The project, however, is not included in Rappahannock's six-year road plan.
In answer to a letter from chairman Luke stressing the county’s support for completion of the long-delayed highway expansion, Hope wrote that his office’s rightof-way section is doing preliminary work on acquisition of the necessary land as time and financial resources permit.
In other action, the board voted unanimously to set a public hearing on the rezoning application from James Mills for its next session on November 3.
Mills seeks to have less than one acre of land on Route 729 rezoned from agriculture to commercial for the operation of a garage and inspection station. His request received favorable recommendation from the Rappahannock planning commission after its public hearing two weeks ago.
