This week, 4-H clubs throughout the country and the world celebrate 4-H week. In Virginia alone more than 160,000 boys and girls participated in the familv and community-based 4-H programs sponsored by parents, schools, community groups and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service.
Farm Show Winners
4-H activities in the County this year have provided experience and training in hard work and responsibility as well as fun for Rappahannock youngsters. Local 4-H’ers who participated in the Culpeper-Mad isonRappahannock farm show in late July distinguished themselves by coming away with more than their share of the prizes. Mitchell Burke was the winner of a silver tray in the Virginia Feeder Pig Association Market Hog Sweepstakes. Mitchell earned this honor by winning reserve grand champion pen of three with hogs weighing 180, 190 and 200 pounds.
