Sheriff W. A. Buntin responded that the proposed ordinance won’t interfere with the whittlers but is intended as a means of combating “the others who hang around all night, getting into nothing but trouble.”
As far as existing laws being sufficient to control the group that “hangs around” Sperryville, Buntin noted that all of the town’s businesses have “no loitering" and “no trespassing” signs posted.
