Workshop On
Alcoholism
Rappahannock County’s number one drug problem—ALCOHOLISM —will be the focus of a daylong educational workshop on Thursday, October 16, at the Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 South West Street, Culpeper. The workshop, ALCOHOLISM: AN OVERVIEW, is sponsored by the RappahannockRapidan Community Mental Health Center and will be presented by the Mental Health Center’s Substance Abuse Team.
Registration from^8:45 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. will preceed a full schedule of activities planned to last until 4:00 p.m. Registration fee of five dollars includes coffee, doughnuts and printed materials.
Topics to be discussed include the' disease concept, symptoms and family aspects of alcoholism. Women’s issues, the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, crisis interventions and treatment of alcoholism are also part of the day’s agenda. There will be small discussion groups for sharing among participants and a panel discussion, with question and answer period, by persons recovering from alcoholism.
