Fashion Sweaters and sweater sets are the attractions for fall. They look good teaming easily with pants, dresses and skirts; work in the layered look and keep warm in homes, schools and workplaces that are being kept cooler this winter. Sweaters go from short and skimpy to elongated dress versions. Sweaters are central to the “preppy” look as they team up with blazers, plaid skirts, pleated shirts and oxford cloth button-down shirts. Knee socks and penny loafters can also be added to complete the "preppy” theme. Sweaters are the fashion for men and boys this fall and winter, too. V-necks, crew necks, turtlenecks, argyle. cables, striped and other interesting textures and patterns will mix and match with plaid pants, solid color pants, jeans, jackets and skirts.
Wild Game Cookery
The hunting season is almost here. Ladies, we had better get our cookbooks out to prepare what our husbands bring home. The following are a few recipes by Mrs. Henry Mosby, Blacksburg. She is an expert on different ways of cooking wild game.
Roast Wild Turkey
Rub the wild bird well with butter, margarine or corn oil (Mrs. Mosby thTnks corn oil clings to the bird’s flesh better), then rub with salt and freshly ground pepper, salting the inside of the bird well.
Put a peeled, whole potato and onion inside the body cavity to absorb a lot of the strong, gamey flavor. If you prefer this gamey flavor then omit these.
Cover the bottom of a roaster with water and put the bird inside. Cover.
Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Place roaster in oven and immediately turn heat down to 325 degrees. Baste
