Around the outside of Thornton Gap is a border of rosemary, santolina, lavender, thyme and southernwood, the delicate patterns and soft hues of the herbs forming a contrast tc the mellow old logs of the exterior.
While she enjoys the gift shop, the cabin restoration is Phyllis Swindler’s real love. “I’ve got to get used to antique buyers, though,” she said. "People come into the gift shop and almost always they’ll buy something. Here at the cabin they look and look and come back again and look before^they buy anything. That’s fine with us, though."
