James H. Jessup, arson supervisor for the State Police Division of Investigation area which includes Rappahannock County, has been elected as a board member of a worldwide arson investigation organization with more than 5,660 members.
Jessup, a Culpeper resident, was elected to the International Association of Arson Investigators' board of directors for a three year term at a recent meeting of the association held in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The association has 15 directors representing 37 chapters around the world. The past convention drew arson investigators from England, Israel, Australia, Saudi Arabia as well as from states all over the U. S.
Jessup has served two terms as president of the Virginia chapter of the IAAI. His was one of 25 names submitted for the five seats open on the board of directors this year. The nominees were reduced to ten before the convention and then narrowed to five on the basis of resumes. Of the five remaining candidates and five nominations from the floor, Jessup received the second highest number of votes.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dodson accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Estes of Culpeper spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Hughvern Jenkins and Mrs. Frances Ryan and their families in Maryland. Ross Jenkins of Jeffersonton spent several days last week in the Dodson home.
