Opening Dates
All Shenandoah National Park campgrounds will be open Friday. May 22. 1981, announced Park Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen. Mathews Arm Campground. Mile 22.3; Lewis Mountain Campground. Mile 57.6; and Loft Mountain Campground. Mile 79.8. will be on a firstcome-first-served basis. Big Meadows Campground. Mile 51.3. is currently open with the reservation system to become effective May 22. Dundo Organized Youth Campground. Mile 83.7. will open April 24. Reservation information on both Big Meadows and Dundo campgrounds can be obtained by writing to the Superintendent. Shenandoah National Park. Luray. Virginia 22835.
The visitor centers at Dickey Ridge. Mile 4.6; and Big Meadows. Mile 51, are open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Conducted hikes and evening programs are available in the Big Meadows area on weekends.
