RUSTY SETTLE Keith Settle has been chosen from the Junior Class to represent R.C.H.S. at the Boys State which will be held at Lynchburg College June 14-20. The boys will learn how the state government is organized and how it operates. In order to check their understanding of what they learned, they will be divided into groups to form their own city and each city will elect a representative and from its own type of government.
The National Honor Society and the honors English classes visited the Hayloft Dinner Theater, Wednesday, May 6. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the play “On Golden Pond” that starred Pat O’Brian. O’Brian’s portrayal of Norman, a sarsastic old gentleman, made the performance hilarious. Aside from the play, we were also served a delicious buffet of which everyone gladly participated. We would like to thank Miss Nelson and Mrs. Wayland who arranged the trip and our chaperone, Mrs. Wiley, for helping out.
The F.H.A. (Future Homemakers of America) met Thursday, May 7 to enduct officers for the 198182 school year.51 The new officers are: Margie Menefee, President; Cindy Williams, Vice-President; Beverly Settle, Secretary; Cathy Atkins, Treasurer and Lou Racer, Historian.
The ceremony consisted of the outgoing officers informing the new offiers of their duties. Candles, representing the qualities of being a member of the FHS, were then lighted. The annual picnic to South Wales is planned for May 30th.
