DAV Unit Coming
To Culpeper
Free assistance for local veterans and their families will be available when a Field Service Unit of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) 1 viAtts Culpeper on Wed*?"1 nesday, June 3. The unit will be located at South Gate Shopping Center on Route II. South, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A benefits expert staffing the unit will assist veterans and their families in filing claims for disability compensation, pension, employment and job training programs, educational benefits, hospitalization and medical care. Social Security, death claims and other federal and state programs. Veterans do not have to be members of the DAV to take advantage of this free service.
Summer
Program
Sursum Cord a School and Day Care Center of Washington will be offering a summer program of instructional and recreational activities for older children beginning June 8. The program will be available to youngsters in kindergarten through 4th grade.
Also serving as a day care center for parents who work, the school is open from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Morning, as well as full-day programs, are available. Two snacks, and a nutritious lunch, are provided each day. Instruction activities which are planned include arts and crafts, woodworking, environmental education projects, cooking, and music. Recreational activities include sand and water play, volleyball and other group sports, hiking, and free play outside.
Sursum Corda will also continue to offer full-time and part-time child care for infants. toddlers, and preschoolers throughout the summer. For registration information, call the school at 67S-3237.
Anniversary
The members of the First Baptist Church in Washington will be celebrating the fourth anniversary of their pastor, the Rev. W.R. Grant, on Sunday, May 17 at 3 p.m. at the church. The Rev. John Pendleton, pastor of Promise Land Baptist Church ne^r Washington will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to attend.
