Rappahannock’s Water and Sewer Authority members heard good news and bad news on the future of the long delayed Sperryville sewer at a meeting Monday night with representatives from the State Water Control Board (SWCB).
The good news is that the community still enjoys the dubious distinction of being ranked as the number five health hazard in Virginia, putting it near the top of the list for treatment facility construction grants from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for correction of existing health hazards.
In addition, SWCB pollution control specialist Stuart Wilson reported that Sperryville’s being a small, rural community willing to solve its pollution problem with alternative and innovative waste water
